Tori G. Roughley is an editor, storyteller, content strategist and licensed insurance professional who loves both the creative and the analytical. With seven years of editorial and content experience, Tori strives to educate readers across all communities on complex financial topics. Tori has tackled a wide range of projects — from informational guides and marketing materials to data analyses and digital PR stories.
Since 2018, Tori has guided people through the intricacies of the insurance world. They began their career working directly in the insurance industry at an independent agency. They designed coverage plans for clients, managed a team of professionals, created marketing and client communication strategies and gained insight into loans, mortgages and other financial planning processes. They have carried their Property and Casualty Insurance license in Michigan since 2021.
Over the past few years, Tori has held two different financial journalist positions: the insurance feature editor at U.S. News & World Report and the deputy insurance editor at CNN Underscored Money, covering content across all lines of insurance. By using their industry background to craft engaging, lifelike narratives, Tori aims to immerse readers into the story so they can make the best decisions for their families, businesses and assets.
Tori earned a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in writing from Grand Valley State University, where they were the editor-in-chief of the Grand Valley Journal of History. They also studied abroad in England at Edge Hill University.
